Our Teachers

Gen Kelang Tsoglam


Our resident teacher is Gen Kelsang Tsoglam. She is a close disciple of Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso and has been practicing and teaching under his guidance for many years. Her teachings are heartfelt, practical, and presented with warmth and humor.

Prior to her arrival here, Gen Tsoglam was the resident teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Bloomington, IN, Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center in Olympia, WA, and taught  extensively throughout the NY/NJ area.

Gen Kelsang Tsoglam teaches as WEDNESDAY NIGHT and SUNDAY MORNING meditation classes as well as our more in-depth study class, Foundation Programs in Providence. She also guides Mini Meditation RetreatsFoundation Retreats, and Special Events throughout the year.

Jason Valcourt


Jason has been studying Kadampa Buddhism and meditation for over ten years. He is also a singer-songwriter and organic vegetable farmer. He draws on a broad spectrum of personal and professional experiences to enhance his teachings.

In his TUESDAY NIGHT class, Jason focuses on practical methods for applying Buddha’s teachings to improve the quality of our daily lives. He also does community outreach meditation classes at Wheeler High School.

Katherine Brown


Katherine has been studying Kadampa Buddhism since 2002 and meditation for over 40 years.

In 2000, inspired by the benefits of urban agriculture, she retired from an academic career in health policy and ethics to help people grow their local food system. She is a former Director of Southside Community Land Trust in Providence and lives in Little Compton on Quicksand Pond.

Katherine teaches FRIDAY MORNING in Little Compton.

Kitty Connolly


Kitty teaches WEDNESDAY MORNING MEDITATION, and has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism for more than 15 years. She is skilled at imparting Buddha’s timeless wisdom in a practical way to help students take the teachings to heart.

Susan Dearing


Susan is a long-time practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism and meditation. She presents her teachings from the heart, with concise and immediately relevant practicality.

During her MONDAY LUNCHTIME class, Susan takes the essence of Sunday Morning class and presents it with thoughtful guided meditation that reinforces our understanding of the teaching.

Nancy Littell


Nancy has been studying and practicing Kadampa Buddhism for several years. Her teachings clearly come from her experience of Dharma in her heart. Her professional life in the healing arts naturally translates into a wish for others the benefit from spiritual path just as she has done.

In her THURSDAY LUNCHTIME class, Nancy focuses on different Lamrim meditations that are easy to follow and fully guided.

Lloyd Williams


Lloyd Williams has been practicing meditation for over 20 years and is a senior Kadampa Buddhist teacher and student. He brings a very practical and clear understanding and experience to his teachings.

Lloyd teaches TUESDAY NIGHT in Worcester.
