Tantric Practice Class

Sunday March 24, 2024

1:30 – 3:00

With resident Teacher, Gerry Donovan

In this class we’ll explore the practice of meditating on the Body Mandala of Heruka.

The purpose of meditating on Heruka body mandala is to receive the powerful blessings of Buddha Heruka and his retinue within our channels and drops. Through these blessings we can be freed from any obstacles within our subtle body, and our meditation on the central channel, indestructible drop and indestructible wind and mind will be successful.

This retreat is for those who have been granted an empowerment of Highest Yoga Tantra.

Stories of the Buddhist Masters

Friday March 22 | 6:30-8:00

With Kadampa Teacher  Jason Valcourt

Before they became the famous masters who we love and revere, they had the same problems we do – maybe worse! Yet, they were able to gain mastery over their minds and attain the state of enlightenment. In each of these workshops we will read a story of a Buddhist master and explore how their particular transformational journey can encourage us to have confidence that we ourselves can grow and change. Learning from the experiences illustrated in their life stories, we will discuss the lessons of their journey, engage in meditation, and learn how to put these teachings into practice in our daily lives.

This program is suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners alike.

Introduction to Buddhist Faith

Saturday April 6 | 10 – 11:30 am

With Kadampa Teacher, Katherine Brown

Taking to heart the advice that faith should be our main practice, this monthly class series offers the opportunity to explore what our practice of faith entails and how we can overcome seeming obstacles so that our mind of faith develops and deepens. The promise of faith in a Buddhist path is freedom from sorrow and suffering, in this life and countless future lives—for ourselves and others. But what does faith in a Buddhist path mean? In guided meditations and by drawing on passages from Geshe Kelsang Gyatso’s books we will delve into this and other questions, such as: What, for a Kadampa, is faith (and what it is not)? What does it mean to have faith in Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha? What benefits come from a mind of faith? Why is faith essential to our spiritual growth? What are the benefits of faith in a Spiritual Guide?

This class is suitable for everyone. No experience necessary.

Within our minds is an extraordinary treasury – our potential for limitless joy, love, compassion, and wisdom. Through receiving the profound blessings of Buddha Vajrasattva we can purify our minds and develop the strength needed to stay peaceful, positive and confident and help others do the same.

The empowerment is a blessing ceremony and guided meditation through which we develop a special connection to Buddha Vajrasattva, bringing great power to the practice of purifying our minds.
